Finally back on stage after a four year hiatus from the stage because of the pandemic, Canefire Productions is coming back with a bang.

Starting Thursday, May 18 – Saturday, May 20 the CLA high school drama program will be performing our first ever original musical plidio called “No Me In Home”.

It is the story of a local girl who leaves the island after her junior year in high school because of a series of tragedies and doesn’t return for six years. During that six years she takes a path to fame through a career that was launched by an unexpected win. The story opens when she is forced to return to the islands because of a personal mishap.

This is a Plidio (Stage play with videos for scene changes) with 8 original songs. All the songs were written and performed by members of Canefire Productions.

You don’t want to miss out on this amazing entertaining evening! Run time is 2 hours and 17 minutes.

Senior Project to be Displayed at National Astronomy Conference

This year Caleb Vogt chose astronomy as the field for his senior project. Using data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, he mapped rotation curves to determine the percentage of dark matter in 18 galaxies. The American Astronomical Society has accepted his project for display at their 242nd meeting this June in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Caleb’s project is one of only a few STEM projects in recent years, and it is the first to receive national exposure. Congratulations to him for his hard work! We hope that this represents the first of many more such senior projects.

Parent Corner

Here’s our last Parent corner of the year. We’re talking about the importance of quality time with your family. As you head off into summer, don’t forget to schedule and fight for time with your spouse and children. It’s more important than you realize. Have a great summer!
