Open House

Monday, August 5th

4:30 p.m.-5:15 p.m. Preschool- 5th grade families are welcome to tour classrooms anytime between 4:30-5:15 p.m.

Divisional Meetings

  • 4:30 p.m. Preschool Meeting on the Preschool Lanai
  • 5:00 p.m. Incoming 6th grade and new 7th & 8th grade student & parent orientation in the Monarch Room (upstairs in the jr high area)
  • 5:15 p.m. Elementary Meeting in the Rosie O’ Pavillion
  • 6:00 p.m. High School Meeting in the high school courtyard

*Family school supplies may be dropped off in designated areas during open house.

1st Day of School

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 7th. The entire school is dismissed at 12:00 p.m. that day (No lunch or Afterschool Care Provided).

Afterschool Care (Preschool-8th grade) will begin on Thursday, August 8th.

High School Athletics

Sports Physical – All high school athletes that compete in a BIIF sport need to have a valid* “Sports Physical” form completed and turned in to Mr. Arakaki before participation. It is recommended that physicals be completed during the summer to ensure that student athletes are eligible for the entire school year, not needing to deal with the hassle of scheduling an appointment during the school year.

*Sports Physicals are valid for one calendar year.

Fall Sports – Pre-season Workouts

Girls Volleyball will be starting pre-season workouts on Monday, July 22nd from 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. and will continue throughout the week. Please wear athletic attire and bring a water bottle.

Air Riflery will start pre-season workouts on Monday, July 29th, from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Workouts will continue on a M, Tu, Th, F schedule.

Cross Country will start pre-season workouts on Monday, July 29th. More details to come.

Mrs. Darby will be running a Reading Comprehension program from 8-10am, and Mr. Shrinski is running a Math program from 10a-12pm every day.

Congratulations, Makala!

Makala Hayashida, one of our seniors, competed at the state level in the Hawaii Science and Engineering Fair this week. His project, entitled “Testing the Bottom-Up Formation of Galaxy Clusters,” looked at five galaxy clusters. For each one, he measured its mass and determined the average age of its stellar population; as a result, he found that the more massive a cluster is, the older its galaxies’ stars tend to be–which gives us information about how these clusters form. His project won second place in the state in his category. He also won a full four-year scholarship to his choice of UH Mānoa or UH Hilo. Many congratulations to Makala for his hard work!
