Watch Canefire Chronicles – “Prayers of Power”

Premier: Friday, March 24 at 5:00 p.m. on the Canefire Production YouTube Channel. The Director’s Cut of Canefire Productions 2022 Project has finally been finished. Please help us reach our goal of 10,000 views so the project qualifies for one of the online streaming services.

“Jess, a high school senior close to graduation, deals with the reality of spiritual warfare as she struggles with her bitterness. Through the influence of some new “spiritual” friends, she realizes how ineffective she has become in the lives of her friends and the advancement of the Kingdom of God. Jess realizes that bitterness only hurts herself and it does allow all kinds of evil to begin to take root. She also is confronted with the amazing name of Jesus and how powerful his name can be when used in prayer. All it takes is one faithful prayer warrior to make a difference.”

Parent Corner

In today’s Parent Corner, we want to talk about showing favoritism. There’s a lot of reasons why we may show favoritism toward one child over another… or it’s perceived to be so. Let’s look at ways we can avoid favoritism and build intentional unique relationships with each of our children.

This month seven CLA students participated in the astronomy division of the Hawaii District Science and Engineering Fair, and two of their projects qualified for States. For her project, Bethany DeLoach verified the Tully-Fisher relationship in a galaxy that is over 500 million light years away, while Caleb Vogt and Christian Lee measured the amount of dark matter in the same galaxy. Joshua DeCleene and Blayk Hanoa reported on spectra of solar system planets, and Makala Hayashida and Seth Glenn determined the ages of two star clusters (Messier 3 and the Pleiades). Makala and Seth won 3rd place in astronomy (6th place overall), and Caleb and Christian won 2nd place in astronomy (5th place overall); both of these projects qualified for States. Based on the quality of his project, Caleb Vogt received the UHH Chancellor’s Award, consisting of a year’s tuition to the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Congratulations to all of these students for their hard work!

Mahalo!

Mahalo for your support for Accreditation!

We are excited to inform you that the school has received a very positive and favorable report from the visiting accreditation team. The HAIS visiting team was here from Sunday through Wednesday of this week to look through our self-study and spend some time validating our findings. We want to thank the faculty and staff for preparing a truly transparent document that reflected the current state of the school. The administration and faculty have worked the past year collecting data and answering hundreds of questions to create this 175 page document. We want to say thank you to the parents who met with the visiting team to answer their questions and give feedback. Thank you to the students who were honest and open during your lunch meeting with the team. I, Mr. Rimel, want to thank Mrs. Shrinski for taking over as accreditation coordinator during my leave of absence in November and December. Thank you for getting all those documents organized and uploaded to the online folder. Thank you to Mrs. Chai for all the amazing meals and overall hospitality shown to the visiting team. The visiting team’s document will now be sent to the State Office to be prepped and sent to the office of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in California. The document will be reviewed by the regional accrediting board in April. We will be informed of our future status toward the end of April. We will keep you updated. Thank you again for your amazing support! God bless.
