Senior Project to be Displayed at National Astronomy Conference

This year Caleb Vogt chose astronomy as the field for his senior project. Using data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, he mapped rotation curves to determine the percentage of dark matter in 18 galaxies. The American Astronomical Society has accepted his project for display at their 242nd meeting this June in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Caleb’s project is one of only a few STEM projects in recent years, and it is the first to receive national exposure. Congratulations to him for his hard work! We hope that this represents the first of many more such senior projects.

Parent Corner

Here’s our last Parent corner of the year. We’re talking about the importance of quality time with your family. As you head off into summer, don’t forget to schedule and fight for time with your spouse and children. It’s more important than you realize. Have a great summer!

Canefire Color Walk 2023

Aloha CLA Families,
Thank you for the amazing support that all of you have showed CLA over the past few years. The eruption of 2018 and the COVID Years were tumultuous times but the Lord provided insurmountable grace to successfully navigate through the treacherous waters. CLA’s history is a testimony to God’s gracious provision. At just the right time God provides the funds and the people to help accomplish the next step in our development.

CLA is ready to take the next step towards making our Lower Campus Facility fully operational. We have a serious need to provide more bathrooms down by the Fieldhouse and the Rosie O. We are in the development stages of this project. As all of you know, acquiring all the necessary plans for such a project is quite expensive. The budget for these plans comes in at just under $10,000.00. The proceeds for this yearʻs Canefire Color Walk will be used for the development plans for new bathrooms at the Fieldhouse and also the covering for the concrete slab. We are asking students to get people to sponsor them as they walk for one hour around a quarter-mile course. The theme for this year’s walk is “Walking to the Finish,” as we are trying to finish the area around the Fieldhouse to make it fully functional.  Please consider helping us raise the funds for this much needed addition to our facility.

Thank you and God bless.

“Jess, a high school senior close to graduation, deals with the reality of spiritual warfare as she struggles with her bitterness. Through the influence of some new “spiritual” friends, she realizes how ineffective she has become in the lives of her friends and the advancement of the Kingdom of God. Jess realizes that bitterness only hurts herself and it does allow all kinds of evil to begin to take root. She also is confronted with the amazing name of Jesus and how powerful his name can be when used in prayer. All it takes is one faithful prayer warrior to make a difference.”

Here’s this week’s Parent Corner. Today we’re going to talk about the importance of self care. Here are three areas where we believe we need the most attention when it comes to us taking care of ourselves.
